product descriptionIsaac’s Little Helper is a custom made product that is ideal for a Tay-Sachs child’s needs. Made from a plushy toy, inside there’s a voice box that holds a personalized recording from the parent. Attached to the recording, there is a large and highly sensitive button so that the child only has to place a minimum of effort into releasing the voice from inside the plushy toy. This toy is ideal for children with very limited mobility and in need of sensory stimulation. Hopefully the recording inside will be enough to get your child reaching again, and after that reaching for his dreams!
1. Get Set Up! Manuver your child to a position where their hand can be placed over the toy’s button. 2. Initiate Play! Encourage your child to press the buttons so that they realize that they can start and stop the sound. 3. Play! Once your child realizes the power at their fingertips, and where the button islocated, let them just mess around and press it when they feel like it. 4. Consistancy! Over time repeat above steps so that the child understands the relation between the button and hearing the recording. Help Your Child Learn to Reach Again: Tay-Sachs children slowly lose their sensory and motor abilities and with those they lose their motivation to reach for things. This toy will hopefully offer enough motivation to get your child grabbing for it and teach them to play again. Gross and Fine Motor Skills: Currently the child in question doesn’t have many gross motor skills. This toy focuses more on regaining finer motor skills, such as pushing down on the button and reaching for it. Cause and Effect: The action of pressing the activation button can help kids begin to understand that the things they do can affect their surroundings, as well as rewrite dissolving neural pathways involved with using those muscles. Sensory Stimulation: The sound released by the button will stimulate the child's mind. The child also learns that when they press once the button it will start the sound when they press it again it will stop, teaching them that they can control aspects of their environment. Materials Included: Plushy toy with voice box with a button that is attached to voice box. |
